The tongue and nosy people.
I don't know how many times someone has mentioned that my boys stick their tongues out again. I usually just smile weakly and agree that yes, they stick their tongues out.
What do you do when people mention it?

I used to do the same thing. After surgery I was more aggressive, I'd say, "Yes, she just had surgery on her tongue, those are stiches in her mouth." People are ignorant. For kids, I'd say, "She has a giant tongue. Kind of like how you have blonde hair. Everyone's different. Pretty cool, huh?"

I am afraid I am going to start getting defensive about it the older the kids get just because I was REALLY conscious and sensitive about my tongue as a kid. One of these days I am going to flip out on some poor fool and explain to them every detail about BWS until they feel like a real jerk. (Probably not as I am way too passive in real life but....I would THINK it. lol)

Well, but they're going for surgery this summer. After surgery, people won't really notice it, even though it may still be thicker. I can't think of the last time anyone asked about Lily's once her stitches dissolved and she's ALWAYS sticking her big ole tongue out. I don't know why. I suspect it's because she can't breathe through her nose and is having her tonsils and adenoids out next month, 'cause everyone knows 5 surgeries before you're 3 is just perfect. Often, when I am in a position to educate teh public, they are curious about it because it's rare and I make them go home and google it. B-E-C-K-W-I-T-H.
